Minimum restrictions for application of fastening systems and tools – Applications in the automotive industry

This standard specifies risk categories and defines minimum restrictions for assembly tools. It provides a cross-technology basis for the application of fastening systems and tools in the automotive industry. The objective is to provide users with basic requirements for selecting fastening tools and thus ensure the safe and reliable fabrication of joints in the car manufacturing industry. This is achieved through the classification of bolted joints into distinct categories, the definition of minimum requirements for tools and systems per category, and the specification of error detection requirements. The minimum requirements are generally valid, solution-independent, and not bound to specific system structures, fastening concepts, or assembly technologies. On this basis, application-specific tool selection can be performed.
